Bethanne Fetzer

Bethanne is no newcomer to the Happy Valley area, having lived in the State College area since 1996. For over two decades Bethanne has worked in the field of human services, serving members of the geriatric population as well as individuals of all ages with disabilities. Bethanne acquired her BA from Rutgers University and her MEd from the Pennsylvania State University with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Services. Bethanne is an active member of the American Counseling Association and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Bethanne also serves as a Mental Health Service Professional on the Mental Health Disaster Team for the American Red Cross. Bethanne’s previous work includes Psychological Services Specialist at the State Correctional Institution of Rockview where she was the Specialized Program Director for the inmate population. She was also a Lead Clinician at the Meadows Psychiatric Center where she managed adult and adolescent clinical services in the inpatient setting. She worked as a mobile therapist providing therapeutic services for families in the home setting, while also working as an adjunct professor at Penn State University where she taught for the Rehabilitation and Human Services Department and authored a class on Teaching and Counseling at Risk Youth. Bethanne has spoken on numerous panels for universities that offer graduate work in the field of counseling and was the Keynote Speaker for Penn State’s inductees of Chi Sigma Iota (The International Honor Society for counseling students, counselor educators, and professional counselors). Bethanne is passionate about helping others succeed in the counseling profession and offers clinical supervision for those pursuing licensure as well as internships for undergraduate and graduate students. Areas of special interest include trauma, sex and gender issues, mood disorders and couples and family counseling using a strength-based and empowerment focused approach. She is trained in and teaches Suicide Prevention with other areas of special training that include Critical Incident Stress Management and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Bethanne is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and is also certified in Telemental Health.

Olivia Barr

Olivia earned her B.S. in Rehabilitation and Human Services from Penn State University with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. She graduated with her MEd in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from Penn State in May, 2016. Olivia has worked as an undergraduate and graduate student intern at A Journey to You. While completing her Master’s degree, Olivia continued to be employed at A Journey to You as a part-time office assistant and is now on our team as a full time licensed therapist. Olivia takes a person centered and strength-based approach to counseling and works with adolescents and adults with anxiety, depression, histories of trauma and substance abuse, and life transitions.

Jena Gindlesperger

Jena earned her Master’s Degree in Counseling from Slippery Rock University in 2013 and obtained licensure in the state of Pennsylvania as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in 2015. She has extensive experience working with troubled youth and their families as a multisystem therapist (MST) as well as a behavioral specialist/mobile therapist where she worked in the schools, home, and community settings. Jena brings forth experience working with individuals on the autism spectrum as well as individuals with trauma and was trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). She is skilled as an outpatient therapist working with youth, adults and families helping to foster healthier growth and development within the family system. Jena has experience working with individuals with depression, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, family concerns, martial problems, and life challenges. She uses a strength focused approach working to empower and to educate and believes that all individuals are capable of making positive change in their lives as they aspire to become the best version of themselves.

Melanie Veeder

Melanie earned her B.S. in Rehabilitation and Human Services from Penn State University and her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis on Children and Adolescents from Lock Haven University. Melanie enjoys working with children and adolescents while using a strengths-based and person-centered approach, among others to fit individual needs. No matter what struggles life brings you, Melanie works with each individual to recognize their unique strengths and abilities. She believes in creating a warm and welcoming space where people feel open to exploring deeper parts of themselves.

Sophie Gale

Sophia graduated with her Bachelor’s in Psychology and her Master’s in Social Work from Brigham Young University. She completed her internships in a pediatrics clinic working with children and adolescents as well as in an out-patient treatment center for women struggling with substance use. Sophia is a Licensed Social Worker and has experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, substance use, ADHD, and family conflict. She hopes to create a welcoming, safe environment where clients can work towards their goals and start to make the changes they wish to see in their lives.

Danielle Maurer LaVan

Danielle is a graduate of Slippery Rock University where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Therapy, Adaptive Physical Activity and Spanish. She completed her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clarion University. Danielle has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families of children with disabilities in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. She has counseled children and teens diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Emotional Disturbances and other behavioral challenges. Danielle loves to use movement, music, games, play, and silliness, to come alongside clients within their treatment journey. Danielle takes on a strength’s-based approach to the counseling world, striving to assist clients by way of developing their confidence and coping skills to take on challenges that they may face. When Danielle isn’t helping clients, she loves being with her husband, two children, and overly friendly dog, Nittany.

Marceline, a near lifelong resident of Centre County, is currently earning her degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the Commonwealth University – Lock Haven and is expected to graduate in 2026. Her approach to counseling is Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, believing that while it is important to understand the problems and concerns we face, it is critical we find the things that work and stick with them. Marceline works to make tangible gains with her clients and knows that everyone is capable of making the changes they want to see in themselves and in their community. She believes firmly that building community is one of the most reliable paths towards self-actualization. She is a passionate advocate for Queer folks and working-class people, spending a great deal of her time advocating for and organizing with oppressed people in the area.

Cheyenne graduated with her Bachelor’s in Social Work, minor in Psychology and her Master’s in Social Work from Fordham University. She completed her internships with Children and Youth Services and outpatient treatment, working primarily with adolescents and adults. Cheyenne is a Licensed Social Worker and has experience working with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, substance use, relationships, and family conflict. Cheyenne takes on a person-centered approach, striving to assist clients by way of developing their confidence when dealing with life’s changes. When not in the office, Cheyenne enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Kenzie earned her B.S. in Rehabilitation and Human Services from Penn State University and obtained her M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Children and Adolescent Counseling as well as Trauma Counseling from Lock Haven University. Kenzie completed her graduate level practicum and internship at A Journey to You and was hired on as a therapist shortly thereafter. Kenzie typically takes on a person centered, cognitive behavioral approach to treat her clients but will also work with a variety of therapeutic approaches, making the treatment tailored to the individual. While Kenzie has her specialization with children and adolescent counseling, she equally enjoys working with all populations and oftentimes utilizes humor to build a strong, therapeutic rapport with her clients.

Traci Krider

Traci earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lock Haven University with a focus on Military and Families. Traci has experience working with the child welfare system, the legal system, teens, families, and substance use disorders. Traci whole heartedly believes that everyone has strengths and is committed to helping others to discover theirs. Traci takes a strengths-based and solution-focused approach when working with her clients and will both challenge you and cheer you as you arrive at your goals

Beverly C. Wells

Beverly earned her bachelors of social work and her masters of social work from Temple University. In addition, Beverly completed post graduate studies at Chestnut Hill College with a focus on theories of counseling as well as psychotherapy/counseling techniques. Beverly is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) bringing with her over 20 years of experience in the mental health industry. Beverly began her professional experience in residential/congregate care programs. The first was a residential facility for adjudicated males where she worked with families to lend professional support and planning to help parents regain an effective role in the lives of their children upon returning home. Beverly was the first Director for Temple University’s North-Central Victims Services, a program that gave support to residences in the named zip code that had been victimized and in need of support. She has experience in both the inpatient and outpatient settings and has worked in supervisory roles involving children’s advocacy, as well as foster care and adoption. Beverly is committed to bringing her experience and skills, coupled with her compassion and passionate style to serve those who come to a Journey to You who are looking to enhance their overall quality of life.

Darin Hudson

Darin earned his Master’s Degree in Counseling from Capella University in 2013, with a focus on Mental Health. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor with an eclectic approach and a wealth of experience with different populations. Darin’s counseling expertise includes serving in outpatient programs, clinical case management environments, and schools. Historically, his clientele involves teens, young adults, adults, and couples. He specializes in a broad range of areas including: self-care, self-esteem, trauma, anxiety, family conflict, anger management, ADHD, depressive symptoms, substance use, and grief, just to name a few. Darin’s strength-focused, person-centered approach has endeared him to clients of all walks of life. He takes a collaborative, thoughtful approach so that his clients can feel valued, empowered, and hopeful in their pursuit of purpose and meaning. Darin is very relational and intentional about learning his clients’ needs, and working with them to develop the most appropriate approaches to addressing them. Whether the situation calls for energy, stillness, reflection, or humor, Darin goes above and beyond to pinpoint the ‘pieces’ and to connect them with the ‘big picture’ alongside his clients. He espouses the philosophy that “ Change is hard but DOABLE!”

Jenna Bicknese

Jenna earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 2013 from Cedar Crest College with a minor in Psychology. She received her Master’s Degree in Art Therapy from Cedar Crest College in 2015. Jennifer obtained her Board Certification in Art Therapy in 2017 (ATR-BC) and her License of Professional Counseling (LPC) in 2018. Jennifer specializes in working with varying populations including: relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, anger management, self-esteem, career difficulties, compassion fatigue, adoption and foster care, blended family issues, caregiver issues and stress, guilt and shame, postpartum depression, pregnancy and childbirth, social anxiety and phobia, and LGBTQIA+ support. Jennifer works with children, adolescents, and adults. She is trained in TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and Art Therapy Assessments and Techniques. Jennifer has extensive experience working in the outpatient setting and enjoys the opportunity to provide support and guidance to those in need.
